Description:
Unstreaked reed-warbler with distinct supercilium, relatively short bill, long and distinctly rounded tail. Compared with Blyth's Reed has more prominent white supercilium behind eye, pronounced dark eye-stripe and shorter bill with well-defined dark tip. Rufous cast to mantle and rump. Legs and feet yellowish-brown to pinkish-brown.
Distribution:
Rare passage migrant through the central parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, absent in Ghizer, Astore and Baltistan. On migration occurs in tall grass of marshy meadows, thickets and small trees. Mostly in lowlands, but also in mountain valleys up to 2500m.
Behavior:
When foraging, moves close to ground among reeds and tall grasses, catching small insects close to the water or snapping them up directly from water's surface. Also performs flycatching from tops of reeds. Food mainly consist of small invertebrates. Small flies, mayflies and caddis flies seem to constitute the most important prey.
